Up first is Blue Waterholes, Kosciuszko National Park! For those who aren’t sure what waterholes are, they are basically a depression where water collects. Waterholes are frequented by animals as well, so if you’re lucky, you might bump into some! Where can you find this beauty of a waterfall? It’s located in the northern parts of Kosciuszko National Park which is about 3 hours away from Canberra.

Russell Falls

Following the beauty above is Russell Falls. You’re looking at Tasmania’s most-photographed waterfall! I mean, it’s understandable why. It’s located just an hour’s drive from Hobart, in Tasmania’s World Heritage Wilderness Area: Mt Field National Park. While there’s 2 other waterfalls in this area, due to Russell Falls’ size and accessibility, it’s the most popular. All it takes is a 20-minute walk to find this famous fall! P.S. If you want a more magical experience, make a visit after dark without your torchlight. Follow the wooden handrail which will lead you to a “starry night sky” powered by glow-worms!

Nelson Falls

Next up is another waterfall you can find in Tasmania, Nelson Falls! Labelled a “Grade 2 Hike”, this one’s safe for the whole family to visit and only 45 minutes away from the carpark. What’s special about the route to Nelson Falls is that it’s wheelchair friendly! There are also loads of educational signs situated along the path to the waterfall which teaches you about the history of the park and habitat.

Mackenzie Falls

This one can blind you with its magnificence. It’s one of the LARGEST waterfalls in Victoria! Only 3 hours away from Melbourne and situated in Grampians National Park, Mackenzie Falls flows year-round! There’s also a wheelchair accessible platform to view the falls. But if you’re looking to get a swim in or just to get a better view, there’s a 30-minute steep trail to the base. Don’t forget your sunblock!

King George Falls

Ready to take your waterfall-seeking adventure up a notch? You’ll find King George Falls in Western Australia simply breath-taking. Reaching up 80-metres high is this beast of a waterfall. Or should I say waterfalls since there are 2 cliff faces? This one’s located in one of the world’s most isolated stretches of wilderness so the only easy way to Western Australia’s highest twin waterfalls is through an expedition cruise from Broome.

The cool, deep pools formed are a perfect way for you to enjoy the scenery while practicing your breaststroke drills! For the best experience, visiting this fall from May to September would be optimal.

Tjaynera (Sandy Creek) Falls

If an adventurous soul, you’ll absolutely LOVE Tjaynera (Sandy Creek) Falls. 90 kilometres south of Darwin, you’ll find this 48-metre-tall waterfall. While it takes a four-wheel drive to get there, the effort pays off when you reach there and get transported to paradise. Privacy coupled with a sense of discovery to sooth your need for adventure.

Emma Gorge Waterfall

Get your cameras and poses ready for this one looks like a scene right out of a movie! Just an hour’s walk through rocky terrain brings you to this 65-metre droplet waterfall. With greenery all around, there’s no better place to relax and get your swim in than this. Practice floating on your back while you free your mind and take in the natural beauty surrounding Emma Gorge Waterfall. If you get a little chilly, there’s a small thermal spring you can find amongst the rocks!

Josephine Falls

Ranked one of the most beautiful waterfalls in North Queensland Australia is Josephine Falls. You might have even seen it in advertisements! Only 700-metres away from the nearest car park is this relaxing waterfall where you can either swim in the water or lay by the rocks with your pals. Do note however that there are restricted swimming areas and any signages put up there are probably for your own safety!

Millaa Millaa Falls

If you’re lucky, you might get to see the platypuses that reside here! Surrounded by lush greenery and perfect picnic spots is Millaa Millaa Falls in Queensland. Enjoy a refreshing swim in the cool water, get a workout in or get busy taking pictures of one of the most photographed waterfalls in all of Australia!
