These projects are not only a means for Swimray to give back to the community, but to also ensure our coaches are regularly exposed to clients with Special Needs on a voluntarily and charitable basis. Thus our coaches' sense of empathy towards special needs clients are a standout in the community due to their rconstant exposure.

Swimray Special Needs Swimming Coach

It is important that you take extra precaution in selecting a swimming coach for a special needs. A quick look at our media features by prominent media, and our reviews, would point out that Swimray has been a trusted service provider of Special Needs swimming lessons.

Swimray's commitment to community involvement for Special Needs has also resulted in numerous organizations seeking collaboration with Swimray's specialized coaches for special needs lessons.

Our coaches are extensively trained and exposed to the differing types of Special Needs before being deployed to the category of lessons requested by the client.

Swimray's Experiences in Different Special Needs

Our Swimray coaches have a wealth of experience in different types of special needs. Some examples are as follow:

  • Autism
  • Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder
  • Down Syndrome
  • Rett Syndrome
  • Visually Impaired

Mild Autism and mild Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder(ADHD) are one of the more common special needs prevalent in Singapore. Yet the number of specialized sports service providers for them ranks at one of the lowest in the nation.

Swimming is a sport that directly helps and aids in the development of special needs children. For instance, children with autism will feel "safe" while swimming. The compressed pressure from water provides an isolated environment that give children with autism an environment they feel comfortable in exercising in.

Likewise, Swimming a high intensity sport that requires full body coordination. Such specific coordination in an unfamiliar environment aids ADHD kids in focusing their energy and attention to master skills that would help them maneuver their way in the pool.

How our Special Needs Lessons are conducted

Our lessons are hence conducted in a way to ensure our swimmers not only pick up specific skill sets, but are also encouraged to communicate to our instructors in their own ways.

With our knowledge in this field, our coaches are more often than not able to garner a positive response from special needs swimmers. This builds a wealth of trust that can go a long way in their swimming journey with Swimray.

In the long run, our objective is to teach our special needs swimmer the Swimray Aquatic Roadmap. Even though they may take longer than usual, we believe every child deserves a chance to be exposed to as much learning as possible.

Why Swimming Lessons are important for Special Needs?

Water confidence and water survival skills is considered a life-skill essential to all.

This is even more relevant in special needs children as they may not know how to express their difficulty in stressful conditions in water, or to be able to manage their energy level to minimize risky actions near the pool.

As such, special needs children are even more in need of swimming lessons to learn to swim as they may be more prone to stressful and risky situation in water which they may not know how to react to or avoid.
