Private Swim Coaches Training

What is being tested in October's Swimsafer?

We organise SwimSafer tests with the help of our partner companies to assist clients to eventually obtain their certifications needed. Swimsafer is a National Water Safety Programme in Singapore designed to teach participants how to stay safe around aquatic environments and aims to teach swimming proficiency and water survival skills. Ranging from stage 1 to 6, from the Introduction to Water Skills to Advanced Personal Survival & Swimming Skill Proficiency, SwimRay has prepared many students for this test and we are proud to say that most of them have managed to pass the test on their first try. A SwimSafer test was held on 30 October 2022 at Woodlands swimming complex, we sent a total of 3 clients for stage 3, and 1 client for Stage 5 respectively. With specialised individual training provided by SwimRay coaches, clients was able to pass their tests with little to no difficulty.

How do we prepare our students for the test?

Coaches helped learners to understand the test’s requirement, ranging from pool entries, body orientation, underwater skills, swimming strokes and survival skills. During the test, our students are confident and able to perform the following:

  • Compact Jump
  • Float or Thread water for 50 seconds
  • Dive down and swim through 2 hoops in 1 breath
  • Executing Freestyle, Breaststroke, Backstroke and Survival backstroke.
  • Putting on the Personal Floatation Device(PFD) and Swim in it

All of these skills will be tested in order to be deemed competent.

For Stage 4, instead of a compact jump, the client would be required to perform a straddle jump while keeping their head afloat at all times. An additional component will be tested which is to call, wave for help and retrieve a floatation device that is thrown to him/her.

Thinking of taking the Swimsafer certification with SwimRay? Rest assured that you will be in good hands. With SwimRay’s monthly training for coaches, there is no need to worry that your child will fail the test. As every Primary School Child would be required to pass at least stage 1 or 2 in order to get exempted from swimming lessons, why not get a head start and contact us to start lessons now!
