Private Swim Coaches Training

Can learners of differing swimming proficiency be in the same class?

During a group class, it is normal to have students of differing age groups, hence, our coaches have to be prepared to manage students of different swimming proficiency. Learning and progression of individuals will be affected if the coach is not prepared to handle these kind of classes. With proper planning and management, lessons can be held smoothly in which both learners get to learn and improve together. Swimray features Coach Gwyn.

With kids of different ages in the same class, they will have different levels of swimming proficiency, confidence and strength. Understanding these differences, a unique lesson plan is crafted to cater to our clients. Coach Gwyn utilises an “Alternating and Simultaneous” lesson plan in which majority of attention is given to one kid while the other practices in a safe pool level.

How is this lesson structure beneficial for the kids?

The answer is Constant Learning. Learners get to practise by themselves when the coach is not with them. As shown in the pictures, when Coach Gwyn had to pay more attention and focus onto one of the students, so as to finetune their stroke and correct on their mistakes, she will then instruct the other student to practise by himself on the other side of the pool where he is able to manage himself without any support. However, Coach Gwyn had to pay regular attention to the other kid so as to ensure safety at all times.

With Good Planning and Lesson Management skills that are taught in SwimRay, our coaches are able to handle group classes of differing swimming proficiency.
